Frequently Asked Questions

What role does the Red Rooster Café play in the Jerome scene?

A welcoming, casual place where you can get an exceptional homemade meal, enjoy the street scene, red rocks, and good company.  Have a glass of wine or local brew. Or just get a great cup of coffee and dessert fresh from our oven.  We’re a Jerome staple and committed to evolving.  Our walls are covered with artwork from several local artists, so the café doubles as a show room.  And, in case you’re interested, we neighbor the Art Park and some of the most unique shops in the region.

Where does the name "hummus" come from?
From the Arabic word for "chickpea". A chickpea is commonly referred to as a garbanzo bean in the United States. Hummus is mainly comprised of garbanzo beans, with a few other ingredients like garlic and sesame seed paste. Although recipes abound online, chef Kimberly Hollon has perfected her own.

Where does The Red Rooster Café get its name from?
The name of our restaurant is shrouded in mystery.

Some claim that the name stems from Rooster of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, which is characteristically sexy, tenacious, and overly romantic, always in the spotlight, and has a knack for entertaining.

Others allude to the rooster in Shakespeare's Hamlet, who crowed to awake the god of day.

Still others insist that culture and cuisine cultivated under the proud rooster on the post-revolutionary flag of the First Republic of France is the restaurant's true inspiration.
